Privacy Policy
Last updated: November 4, 2026
Lumenous is a home screen app built to work on your phone without accounts, ads or tracking. This page explains what it reads, and the few times it talks to the internet.
What stays on your phone
- Notifications (for the Hub): read with Android's notification access, shown only inside Lumenous, and never uploaded.
- Contacts and calendar: used to search, message, call and show your events. Never uploaded.
- Notes, to-dos and private notes: stored only on your phone. Private notes are protected by a passcode that is never stored itself, only a salted one-way fingerprint of it.
- Wallpapers and photos: the depth effect's subject finder runs on your phone. Your photos are never uploaded.
- App usage: "most opened" counts are kept on your phone. Screen time uses Android's own data, only if you allow it.
What goes online
- Weather: to show the forecast, Lumenous sends the city or approximate location you choose to Open-Meteo. Nothing else is sent with it.
- Optional font download: if you tap the font download, the font files are fetched from GitHub.
- License activation (GitHub version): when you activate a key, Lumenous sends that key to Gumroad, the store that sold it, to check it's valid. It may check again about once a month so refunded keys stop working. Only the key is sent.
- Update checks (GitHub version): about once a day, Lumenous asks GitHub whether a newer version exists. No personal information is sent.
- Google Play purchases (Play version): handled by Google Play under Google's privacy policy.
What Lumenous never does
- No account or sign-up.
- No ads, analytics or tracking libraries.
- No root and no Accessibility service access.
- Nothing is sold or shared with anyone.
Children
Lumenous does not knowingly collect any information from anyone, including children.
